Due to the merge of Electronics, Informatics and Telecomunications, embedded systems are more and more among our daily lives. Those embedded systems are mainly used for costly applications such as multimedia ones.

The ARDMAHN project proposes to solve the computational and time consuming issues by shifting functions from the software world to the hardware world, mainly using FPGA technology. A new methodology is implied and new techniques are required to allow the verification and validation process of self-adaptive architectures.

The ARDMAHN project innovation defines a dynamically reconfigurable architectures answering to the need of multimedia flow adaptation to consumer's needs and network states, the adaptation and the validation of existing software functions to a dynamically reconfigurable architecture and the definition of a methodology, which allows the verification and the validation of self-adaptive architectures for making application development easier on such architectures.

Within the ARDMAHN Project, VIOTECH is the main technical contributor for the following tasks:
• Specification of the Home Gateway video adaptation application requirements;
• Analysis and definition of the Home Gateway architecture;
• Design and implementation of the application software layer;
• Design and implementation of the video adaptation hardware modules;
• Integration of the hardware and software layers for the ARDMAHN demonstrator.
